Principal Claire Povah c.povah The Principal is the senior member of the College who is responsible to the Council and the Senate of the University for the College finances and for maintaining the effective working and good order of the College.
Vice-Principal Dr Paul Dolby p.dolby Paul is the principal’s second in command within the College. Paul has been a part of Graduate College in many capacities since he came to Lancaster as a student in 1994.
College Residence Officers Lucyann Featherstone, Joy Payne and Heather Hobson gcro Ext. 93342 The residence office is on your left as you enter the reception lodge, next to the College TV/Meeting room. Dean Gareth Ellis g.ellis1 The Dean is a senior member of the College who ensures that there is no breach of university or college rules. He is responsible for all disciplinary matters within the College.
Resident Assistant Deans Aaron Hunsberger, Paula Burkinshaw, Dean John and Tim Corbett. (graddeans) Assistant Deans are postgraduate students who live within Graduate College and assist the Dean with welfare and disciplinary matters.
College Welfare Officer Bev Abram b.abram Ext. 93940 Bev is your first point of contact with the welfare and support side of the University. Be they small problems or major crises, academic or personal, Bev will listen to you and help you find a way forward.
College Administrator Jane Hulland j.hulland Ext. 92600 Jane is responsible for running the College Office, which is located next to the Porters’ lodge. Jane sends out regular LUGrad News and PGR News e-mail newsletters to all postgraduate students featuring news, information and events of interest to postgraduate students. She also sells tickets for PGSA and College events (through the online store). Her office hours are 9am-1pm mon-fri.
College Porters Kevin Forsythe, Paul Beveridge, Nino Sibilla and Kevin Baird. gradcoll.porters Ext. 93194 College Porters are available 24hrs a day for the majority of the year and are responsible for mail, room keys, and general security in and around the college. They are the people you should speak to first if you need help or information or if you have any sort of problems day or night.
Bar Manager Gareth Ellis Ext. 92824 Gareth has been responsible for running Gradbar for the past 12 years. He has succeeded in having the bar listed in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide since 2003 and his ever-changing selection of quality traditional real ales are well worth trying. Watch out for his annual Real Ale & Cider festival in week 9 of the summer term.
PGSA Ext. 92561 The Post Graduate Student Association (PGSA) is the elected representative body of the members of The Graduate College of Lancaster University. All postgraduate students of the University are members of the PGSA, whether they live in Graduate College or not. They aim to look after the needs of all postgraduates, be they academic, social, sporting or in relation to accommodation.
